Circulation Policies for Patrons with Active PUID

Patrons are Responsible for:

Having an active PUID to check out any material
Renewing or returning all material by the due date
Reading library e-mails and responding to all library notices promptly
Updating your Personal Directory Information with all address changes including e-mail
Notifying the libraries if their PUID is lost or stolen
Notifying the libraries if material is lost or stolen
Paying any fines or fees for late return or non-return of library materials checked out on their PUID

Loan Periods (Subject to change upon recall)

Core Loan items are due in 3 weeks for undergraduate students, and in 16 weeks for faculty, staff, and graduate students.

Limited Loans are all non-core loans, including the following items:

Serials and Journals - 2 days for bound journals; 2 hours for unbound journals
Course reserves - vary by library and by type of material
Reference books - for in-library use only
Media - one week
Specialized material - libraries may assign different loan periods for specialized material
Recalled materials - are due 10 days after a recall is placed

Renewals

Core loan materials may be renewed:

Online at www.lib.purdue.edu - Click on “My Library Account” under Quick Links
By phone (765) 494-2822 or at any Purdue West Lafayette campus library
In person at the circulation desk of any Purdue West Lafayette campus library

Limited Loan materials, with the exception of media, is not renewable.

Returning Library Material

All material should be returned or renewed by the due date (or the recall due date). Most materials can be returned to any Purdue West Lafayette campus library with the exception of reserve material, periodicals, and media items, which need to be returned to the lending library.
